Introduction of Pre-action Alarm Valve

 

Pre-action fire sprinkler systems are filled with air and water is only allowed to pass through when the smoke alarm or detector goes off. This type of system requires two triggers to start water flow. It helps greatly that the pre-action fire sprinkler can be set to prevent water from spouting in case of a false alarm or a mechanical failure.

The pre-action system is good for use in places where the sprinklers are only necessary when there is an actual fire so other items in the building do not get water damage from an accidental sprinkling. They are usually employed in freezing cold areas and areas with valuable items that are in need of avoiding water damage due to damaged sprinklers and/or piping, such as computer lab, generator room, reference room, document room and warehouse etc. Mistaken extinguishing is not allowed in such important places.

 

How does it work?

The pre-action system is a fire extinguishing system with the nozzles normally closed, the pipe network is usually not filled with water. When a fire occurs, after the fire detector alarms, the automatic control system controls the valve exhaust and water filling, and changes from a dry type to a wet type system. Water spraying only starts when the ignition point temperature reaches the point where the sprinklers are actuated.

The pre-action system has the characteristics of both a dry sprinkler system and a wet sprinkler system,and also overcomes the shortcomings of the dry sprinkler system's low fire control rate and the wet system's prone to water stains. But it requires higher for cost and maintenance.
